Conversations Unplugged
with Jason Shurka
Jason Shurka describes himself simply as a curious person who likes connecting dots, challenging conventional thinking, and experimenting with technologies to see what they can do. That curiosity is what drew him to The Light System, a collection of devices built around light and other forms of stimulation. In this conversation with STEMREGEN Founder and Chief Science Officer Christian Drapeau, Jason explains why he believes the visible spectrum has much more to offer than red light alone and how the technology is designed to fit into everyday life rather than requiring hours of dedicated use.

The Light System includes larger structures such as a pyramid, sphere, and cube, along with a wearable watch. Jason says the larger systems focus primarily on delivering visible-spectrum light, while the watch combines tracking features with the company’s other technologies. It monitors measurements including heart rate variability, sleep cycles, activity, blood oxygen, and heart rate. For Jason, portability is a major part of the appeal: he wants technology that can be used while working, sleeping, and moving through the day rather than becoming another obligation on his schedule.
Jason’s interest is also personal. He says he has used the technology for roughly a year and a half and has noticed changes in areas including his back discomfort, hair, and heart rate variability. He also describes dramatic stories he has heard from other users, while acknowledging that The Light System is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions. He frames the technology instead around creating an environment that may support the body’s own processes, and points to the combination of personal experiences, user reports, and research as the reason he continues exploring it.
That idea of supporting the body rather than replacing its natural systems is where Jason and Christian find common ground. Jason arrives curious about STEMREGEN and leaves planning to test it during a workout that would normally leave him sore, while Christian becomes equally interested in experiencing The Light System firsthand. Their conversation reflects a shared willingness to explore unconventional ideas, but also a simple question at the center of both approaches: what happens when you give the body a different environment and then pay close attention to how it responds?
